Three CEF’ers attended the 2011 Campus Microfinance Alliance at Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut. The conference brings together student-run MFI’s from across the nation to discuss best practices, challenges, opportunities, and trends. We made four presentations over the course of the conference…
Jon Young, Resource Development Coordinator, presented on the “Community Outreach and Client Recruitment” session. He shared the ways CEF remains grounded in community, based in partnerships, and driven by member feedback to meet the demands of our target population.
Linda Chamiec-Case, Latino/a Coordinator, presented on “Access to Markets,” highlighting the ways CEF is helping micro-entrepreneurs access new opportunities for their businesses.
Maggie West, Program Coordinator, presented during the “Growth and Sustainability” session on CEF’s combination non-profit and student-run structure. Maggie also presented on “A New Approach to Training: Deliver with a Product,” on CEF’s innovative combination of financial education and matched savings accounts.
Many thanks to the Campus Microfinance Alliance for organizing such a thorough and informative conference. This is our second year attending the conference, and we are always impressed by our fellow members of the Alliance.
